Here’s a wine you won’t forget ….Châteauneuf-du-pape! 🇫🇷
Aka “The pope’s new castle” is todays feature for #WineWednesday! Coming to you from Rhône Valley in Southern France. But, did you know? ➡️ The name refers to a time when the Roman Catholic Church was in Avignon (between 1309–1377).

Aromas & flavors: burlat cherry and fig aromas with spices such as nutmeg and cocoa. The palate carries silky tannins combined with complex red fruits, gentle spices and smoky notes.
Variatels: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault
Food Pairing: Birria tacos paired perfectly with Châteauneuf-du-pape (CDP) because of its bold flavors and type of meat. Since CDP is higher in alcohol you want a rich dish like birria tacos to help balance it out.
Conclusion: after letting it decant for about an hour it was just right! You can purchase this wine for $59.99 here.
Wine Rating: 96 points
*Any wines rated 90 points or more, I recommend. Wines rated 89 points or below means it’s an acceptable wine, but I wouldn’t spend your money on it.*
