Updated: Jun 22, 2021
Hello! Or should I say bonjour? 😉 Okay I have to admit that opening was cheesy but I am super excited to share my review with you for this Gamay from the Beaujolais region in France. It was rated 90 points by Jamessuckling.com and is only $6.99 from Trader Joe’s! Read below for my tasting notes:
Vintage: 2018
Alcohol percentage: 14.5%
Appellation: Beaujolais region (France)
Appearance: medium intensity, ruby in color.
Nose: light-medium intensity, with primary aromas.
Sweetness: off-dry
Aromas and flavors: strawberry jam aromas; flavors of bright strawberry and red cherry.
Conclusion: good wine
Price: $6.99
Food Recommendation: Dateline and chill type of vibe. In other words, this wine can be enjoyed on it’s own or can be paired beautifully with duck.
Conclusion: You can enjoy this wine chilled or at room temperature because of it’s light bodied complexity.
Bonus Tip: Let the wine open up after 20 minutes before serving to capture a better drinking experience. Watch me taste this wine “live” on YouTube here.
Wine Rating: 92 Points
*Any wines rated 90 points or more, I recommend. Wines rated 89 points or below means it’s an acceptable wine, but I wouldn’t spend your money on it.*
