Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs – 95 Points
Updated: Jun 22, 2021
How I celebrate? I prefer Schramsberg bubbles and believe it or not its the Blanc de Blancs. This Brut style sparkling wine is made from Chardonnay. The Blanc de Blancs was the first wine Schramsberg produced in 1965 and was America’s first commercially produced Chardonnay-based brut sparkling wine. Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs gained international recognition in 1972 when then President Nixon served the wine at the historic “Toast to Peace” in Beijing, China. Read below for my tasting notes:
Vintage: 2016
Alcohol percentage: 12.3%
Appellation: North Coast
Nose: ripe green apple, pear, sweet spice and buttered brioche.
Sweetness: dry
Flavors: “Honeycrisp apple, grilled lemon, and orange peel bring fruitful notes to the mid-palate, ending with a clean crisp acidity that’s punctuated with caramelized and tropical flavors.”
Conclusion: very good wine
Price: $41
Food Recommendation: sushi from Eikos (IF YOU’RE LOCAL to Napa); or drink it by itself when you’re toasting to LIFE.
Conclusion: if you’re looking to pop a special bottle of bubbles. – THIS IS IT. You can purchase it nationally (at any grocery store) or directly from Schramsberg. It’s a CLASSIC.
Wine Rating: 95 Points
*Any wines rated 90 points or more, I recommend. Wines rated 89 points or below means it’s an acceptable wine, but I wouldn’t spend your money on it.*
